    Which Ebra seeder to choose?

There are many models of EBRA seeders available. Determine which one is best for your needs.

Manual seeder, on tiller or tractor-mounted ?
    • Manual seeder : SJ range - If you sow less than 5000 m² (6000 yd²) , and you do not expect perfectly parallel rows for hoeing, let's choose a manual seeder !
    • Behind tiller : MS 22 - This is a good compromise between a manual seeder and a tractor-mounted seeder. It is the right one for medium-sized areas (5000 to 10000 m² - 6000 to 12000 yd²).
    • On tool holder : The right model is MS 23, because it is so short that it fits between the front and rear wheels of the tool-holder
    • Tractor-mounted - The solution for sowing larger areas or parallel rows for hoeing. See the table below to choose between the 3 versions of EBRA tractor-mounted seeders.
Tractor-mounted seeder : which model to choose ?
    • For sowing in small spaces (e.g. in greenhouses with a U-turn in the tunnel): MS 23. This model is designed to work on well-prepared soil, without large stones, crop residues, etc.
    • For seeding with narrow inter-row spacing (from 13 cm - 5 in): MS 23 double line frame. This model requires a finely prepared soil.
    • For inter-row spacing from 25 cm (10 in), on finely prepared soil and with no or few crop residues, clods, stones.. : MS 21. This isTHE model especially designed for market gardening, especially in beds, mounds or ridges.
    • For row spacing from 25 cm (10 in) , for field crops and difficult conditions (coarse soil, with stones, vegetal residues...): SU 201. This is the oldest EBRA tractor-mounted seeder, originally designed for large field crops. This is a very robust model, appreciated whole over the world, for its easy-to-use and solidity.
How many rows on my multirows seeder ?

    Several factors apply here:

    • Number of rows of the beds or the spacing between tractor wheelsMinimal gap between rows is 25 cm - 10 in (except MS23 model with double line frame : 13 cm - 5 in)
    • If you do not work with bedsthe total surface area to be sown at once. Please follow the basic rule "1 row per hectare to be sown at once" (e.g. sowing 5 ha - 12 acres at once : select a 5-rows seeder. This allows you to sow 1 ha in about 1,5 hour, i.e. 5 ha in about a day).

Could our seeders correspond to your needs?

Thanks to their exceptional versatility, EBRA seeders have won over farmers who grow a wide variety of plants.

    Market gardeners
    • Market gardeners are at the heart of our clientele in Europe, mainly those practicing diversified market gardening on small or medium surfaces. Those practicing direct sales are particularly seduced by our manual seeders. And for open field cultivation of beans, onions, carrots... EBRA seeders are perfectly suited for small or medium-sized (up to 10 to 20 ha - 25 to 50 acres) surfaces.

    Organic market gardeners
    • Organic market gardeners represent more than half of our customers in Europe, who appreciate the versatility and ease of change-over of EBRA seed drills. These qualities are particularly important for organic market gardening, which often involves a large number of crops.

    Producers of flowers, medicinal plants
    • Thanks to their ability to accurately sow even very small seeds, but also seeds of very irregular shapes, EBRA seeders are very suitable for the production of flowers and medicinal plants.

Producers of corn, soybeans, rapeseed, cotton, rice...

For precision seeding on small or medium-sized surfaces, EBRA seed drills suit if you're looking for simplicity and versatility.

And those doing catch-up corn sowing
    • Further to damages caused by wild animals to crops : thanks to their ideal weight - not too light to sow on sometimes difficult or not well prepared soils while remaining comfortable to push - the EBRA SJ manual seeders are well adapted to the needs of maize farmers confronted with this problem.

Are our seeders made for you?

We know that your time is valuable. Find out in a few lines whether Ebra seeders are suitable for your specific needs.

WHAT TYPE OF SOWING DO YOU WANT TO DO?
    • Broadcast seeding, on an entire cultivated surface, without embedding the seeds: consult our website www.sepeba.fr
    • Precision seeding : EBRA seeders are perfectly suited to your needs
    • Sowing in rows (cereal sowing type) : EBRA seeders can suit to your needs. Please contact us to discuss your project.
    • Multi-row sowing, for market gardeing, in very close rows (less than 13 cm - 5 in) - sowing seedlings for example . EBRA seeders will not correspond. We can help you search for a specific seeder from our partners.
    • Direct seeding : EBRA seed drills are not designed for direct seeding, even if they accept rudimentary soil preparation. However, some special seed drills from partners integrate the EBRA distributor units. Please contact us for more information.
YOUR SURFACE AREAS AND NUMBER OF CROPS?
    •  If you cultivate an area smaller than 20 ha (50 acres), or/and if you grow large variety of crops, then EBRA seeders suit to your requirements.
    • If you have a important surface, but very frequent changes of seeds, EBRA seeders can be adapted to your needs.
    • If you sow wide surface areas (larger than 20 ha - 50 acres) with only one type of seeds (e.g. monoculture of carrots), please look for a pneumatic seeder, which will be better adapted to your needs.
What type of seeds do you want to sow?
    • Cereals, sown in rows : EBRA seeders can sow them. Please contact us to discuss your project.
    • Seeds such as corn, rapeseed... The EBRA seed drill can be well adapted. Depending on the surface areas, we can advise you on the best choice.
    • Vegetable seeds of all types and sizes, from carrots to large beans: this is undoubtedly the core business of the EBRA seed drill.
    • Small bulbs : EBRA seed drills can be used to distribute small bulblets (mainly 8-14 mm caliber), but at a very slow forward speed. There are specific seeders for this, or planters, but if you have an EBRA seed drill, you can also use it for small bulblets.
    • Seeds of flowers and medicinal plants : EBRA seed drills distribute most of them.
    • Cores, acorns ... : the EBRA seed drill distributes most of those up to 18 - 20 mm long
What type of soil do you grow?
    • Unlike light and flimsy seeders, EBRA seeders are well adapted to most of the types of soil. Their sturdy, rigid construction means they stay in line, even in the presence of clods, stones or plant residues. Please ask for the clod clearer option and, if necessary, opening cutting discs (if there is a lot of plant residues).
    • Which tractor mounted EBRA seed drill to choose according to the type of soil?
      • fine soil and/or finely prepared soil, with few clods, stones and crop residues: MS 21 seeders
      • "heavy" soil, presence of stones, clods, plant residues: SU 201 seeder with V wheel
      • light but stony soil, or with lots of plant residues: SU 201 seed drill with flat shape wheel
What are your criteria for choosing a seed drill?
    • Price : EBRA seed drills offer the best value for money, thanks to their French precision and reliability.
    • Robustness : for sure, EBRA seed drills are among the most robust and reliable on the market. Some EBRA seed drills from the 1950s are still in operation.
    • Simplicity / accuracy ratio : very easy-to-use and to understand, to reach an accurate sowing.
    • Versatility : there are a large number of distributor discs and adjustment settings, enabling you to sow a large variety of seeds. (please refer to the "Principle" and "Distributor discs" sections of the website).
    Do you consider quality important?
    • EBRA seed drills are designed and assembled in France by our experts, with parts manufactured by our local suppliers.
